Training is designed to challenge the body. Muscles work harder, energy demands increase and recovery processes begin almost as soon as the session ends. But performance isn't only about what happens during a workout.
Sleep, nutrition, recovery time and overall training load all influence how well the body is equipped to meet repeated physical demands. The immune system is part of this bigger picture, which is why supporting normal immune function matters alongside strength, endurance and recovery.

It's easy to think about recovery only when muscles begin to ache, but recovery isn't simply a response to soreness. It's an ongoing process.
Nutrition, hydration, sleep and the spacing of training sessions all contribute to the environment in which normal physiological processes take place between workouts. That makes recovery something to plan with training rather than something to consider afterwards.
And importantly, there isn't one universal recovery formula. Training history, exercise type, intensity, duration, dietary intake and individual circumstances can all influence recovery requirements.

When training volume increases, it's tempting to focus almost entirely on protein and calories. Both matter, but they're only part of the nutritional picture.

Protein still matters
